Project Overview
ECS Group delivered a comprehensive groundworks and external works package for the development of the Fan Village at Harlequins Rugby Club’s home stadium, The Stoop. The package incorporated reinforced concrete foundations for the new decking, turnstiles, canopies, cabins and associated infrastructure, together with surface-water drainage, utility installations, paving, roads and landscaping works.
Key Scope of Works
• Site clearance, reduced-level excavation and earthworks
• Reinforced concrete foundations for the Fan Village decking
• Foundations for turnstiles, canopies, cabins and the generator • Surface-water drainage and below-ground pipework
• Construction of a new soakaway and associated chambers
• Decking drainage installations
• Utility trenches, service ducts and draw pits
• New access road and tarmac footpaths
• Tobermore paving and associated sub-base construction
• Removal and reinstatement of planters and landscaped areas
• Demolition and alteration of the existing turnstile infrastructure
• Final surfacing, reinstatement and external works
Project Delivery
The works were undertaken within an operational sporting venue, requiring careful coordination of access, deliveries and working areas around the stadium environment. As the design and scope developed, ECS coordinated the drainage, structural foundations, utilities and external finishes as an integrated package. The works were sequenced across multiple areas to accommodate the evolving Fan Village layout while maintaining safe access and progressing the wider programme.
