Project Overview
ECS Group delivered a multi-area package of structural alterations and enabling works across the Lower Doug Ellis Stand, Trinity Upper Tier, South East Corner and North Stand at Villa Park. Part of ECS Group’s continuing involvement in the phased redevelopment of Villa Park. The works facilitated new precast and in-situ terracing, upgraded utility infrastructure and improved disabled access and egress arrangements.
Key Scope of Works
• Reinforced concrete bases for additional precast terracing
• Removal of 156 terrace steps and nine concrete landings
• Crane-assisted removal of existing terrace sections
• Structural alterations for in-situ terracing infill
• Reinforced concrete foundations, slabs and steps
• Installation of large precast concrete service troughs
• Six 150mm service ducts beneath the North Stand
• Pitch-side drainage and service containment
• Alterations for improved disabled access and egress
Project Delivery
All works were delivered within a live and fully operational stadium. ECS coordinated access, deliveries, lifting operations and construction activities around the club’s daily operations, grounds team and event programme. Restricted access required extensive concrete saw-cutting, controlled section removal, hand excavation and manual transportation of materials. The service installations were adapted around existing utilities and reinforced concrete obstructions while maintaining safe access and minimising disruption.
