Groundworks, reinforced concrete slabs, foundations and drainage

ECS Group completed the groundworks and reinforced concrete package for a new maintenance facility within Edgbaston Stadium. The works included reduced-level excavation, disposal, compacted sub-base and construction of reinforced concrete raft and external slabs. The package also incorporated slab thickenings, trench foundations, concrete finishes, movement joints and gravel filter drainage.

The works were delivered within a live training facility over a concentrated programme of approximately four weeks. Careful coordination of access, material movements and working areas was required, including the relocation of fencing, containers and grounds-maintenance equipment. The groundworks, reinforcement and concrete pours were sequenced as a coordinated package to maintain progress within the restricted programme and minimise disruption to facility operations.
