Project Overview
ECS Group delivered the groundworks, drainage and reinforced concrete frame package for a new building at Ark John Keats Academy in Enfield. The works included foundations, ground-bearing and suspended slabs, structural walls, columns, beams and roof parapets, together with below-ground drainage and service infrastructure.
Key Scope of Works
• Approximately 470m³ of reinforced concrete • More than 50 tonnes of reinforcement • Reinforced concrete foundations and ground-floor slab • Approximately 700m² of suspended floor and roof slabs • Visual-grade concrete walls, columns and beams • Off-site prefabrication of reinforcement cages • Pre-applied waterproofing and structural thermal breaks • Foul and surface-water drainage • Service ducting and precast concrete staircase installation
Project Delivery
The frame was constructed within a restricted site and in close proximity to the existing school building. To help overcome the limited working and storage space, reinforcement cages were prefabricated at ECS Group’s own facility before being delivered to site ready for installation. This approach reduced on-site fabrication requirements and supported the coordination of reinforcement, lifting and concrete-frame activities within the constrained site. ECS also managed bespoke formwork, temporary works and back-propping around the close structural interfaces.
